Letter to the Brethren: August 14, 2025 – Continuing Church of God

Greetings from the Five Cities region of California.

The air here has had smoke in it for about a week because of one of the fires in California (the Gifford fire). While the office has not been in any fire danger, the smoke got a lot thicker the past few days, but we are still fine and continuing to work, etc.

Book of Daniel

Finally completed the ten-part sermon series covering each verse of each chapter in the Book of Daniel.

Jesus told His followers to pay attention to what Daniel wrote related to the end times and the abomination of desolation–which is mentioned in three chapters of that book. The old Plain Truth magazine had an article about it decades ago.

Podcast

On Monday, I was a guest on something called the Christitutionalist podcast. The host and I discussed biblical and non-biblical prophecies as well as the idea that Satan deceives and has his prophets do this throughout history as that is part of his plan.

Malawi Church Registration

There has been some confusion related to registering the Continuing Church of God in Malawi. To make a long story short, the first two times it was done, it was done with the wrong branch of the government in Malawi. So, although we received something from the government, it had limited value (they were not fake as some detractors stated years ago). Once we learned that they were with the wrong government agency, we began the lengthy process to get the CCOG registered with the proper branch of the government.

So, we are in the process of registering the CCOG In Brazil.

Notice also that we may have more with us in Brazil than I reported last week, as I had written “at least 22” (see Letter to the Brethren: August 7, 2025), so it looks more like close to 60.

Adão de Amorim also told me when I met with him in Brazil last month that he expects much growth in Brazil, and his email also confirmed that he still believes that.

Russia

Earlier this year, pastor Arthur Topos from Kenya was able to visit Russia. We sent him literature in Russian to take with him. Anyway, he reported that there was interest in Russia with some he met with.

This week he asked for pdf files of the booklets we have in Russian and I sent them to him. He is planning on printing them and sending a few of them into Russia. One of them is the Gospel of the Kingdom of God–here is a link to that: Евангелие Царства Божьего.

Arthur Topos may also be able to visit China this year.

We continue to work to proclaim the good news of the kingdom of God to the world as a witness as Jesus said to do in Matthew 24:14.

World News Items

US President JD Vance again warned against the censorship plans and trends in Europe (see JD Vance again warns Europe against a ‘dark path’ of censorship). Despite his pleas, we know that the ‘666’ Beast power will arise in Europe to force worship (Revelation 13) and censor the word of God (Amos 8:11-12). Germany’s AfD party continues to gain support there (see Germany’s AfD party taking lead–Germans are changing) and may become a factor in the ultimate rise of the Beast.

Over in Canada, there is so much interest in its assisted suicide program that some of the physicians that do it are overwhelmed by the demand (see Increased demand for Canada’s euthanasia (assisted-suicide) program). This is wrong and should not be something that governments pay for or even approve.

While I tend to warn a lot about American tackle football, the Church of God has long opposed other violent sports, such as boxing. In Japan, two 28-year old boxers who fought the same day (but not each other) ended up dying (see Despite ‘rules,’ 2 Japanese boxers died in separate fights the same day). Christians should not support nor intentionally watch intentionally violent sports.

The United Nations warned that food price inflation is affecting many around the world (see Global food price inflation surging). But, the end is not yet (Matthew 24:6).

There are concerns that Artificial Intelligence may be used to create diseases (see Artificial Intelligence Can Be Used To Develop Biological and Chemical Weapons –this is not a surprise). It has long been my view that human beings, directly or indirectly, would create one or more of the diseases that will be associated with the ride of the fourth horseman of the Apocalypse (Revelation 6:7-8). Yes, AI looks like it will be a factor in this as well.

Concluding Comments

The prophet Hosea was inspired to write the following:

16 “And it shall be, in that day,”
Says the Lord,
“That you will call Me ‘My Husband,’
And no longer call Me ‘My Master,’
17 For I will take from her mouth the names of the Baals,
And they shall be remembered by their name no more.
18 In that day I will make a covenant for them
With the beasts of the field,
With the birds of the air,
And with the creeping things of the ground.
Bow and sword of battle I will shatter from the earth,
To make them lie down safely.

19 “I will betroth you to Me forever;
Yes, I will betroth you to Me
In righteousness and justice,
In lovingkindness and mercy;
20 I will betroth you to Me in faithfulness,
And you shall know the Lord.

21 “It shall come to pass in that day
That I will answer,” says the Lord;
“I will answer the heavens,
And they shall answer the earth.
22 The earth shall answer
With grain,
With new wine,

Brethren, when we see evil in the world and evil in the religions of the world, remember that God has a plan.

Jesus will return. The millennial reign will be on the earth.

The world will become a peaceful place filled with lovingkindness.

Do not lose sight of God’s plan and His soon coming Kingdom.
